(ORANGE COUNTY, CA) – On Tuesday, January 5, the OC Music Awards Showcase Series kicks off at Costa Mesa’s Detroit Bar launching 7 weeks of free showcases at different venues across the county. 35 local artists will compete for the titles of Best Live Band or Best Live Acoustic and a performance slot at the 2010 OC Music Awards on March 6 at the Grove of Anaheim. But that’s not all.
Fender will generously be awarding each of the two Showcase Series winners, Best Live Band and Best Live Acoustic, a $2,500 voucher redeemable directly from Fender Music Instruments Corporation as part of their support of the 2010 OC Music Awards. The Awards is in its ninth year and this will be the first reward of its kind offered to Showcase Series winners in addition to the recognition. The Showcase Series culminates at the Best Live Acoustic Finals February 26 at Yost Theater and the Best Live Band Finals at Samueli Theater February 27, where the five finalists from both categories perform and the winners are announced on stage at the end of the each night.
The Showcase Series is free to submit, free to participate and all shows are free to attend. OC Music Awards received hundreds of submissions from artists all across the county hoping to partake in the two-month long live series. The final 35 participating artists, each band’s city of origin and the complete showcase schedule follows. Promotional flyers are attached.

Orange County was a sleepy little suburb of L.A. until legendary bands like No Doubt and the explosion of the action sports youth culture put us on the map. More recently, media exposure of “the OC” lifestyle has made our county a household name.
With this intense media focus a new wave of motivated and talented Orange County artists are rapidly becoming the nation’s new vibrant music scene.
